Where dark and light meet there is the unknown. Sinclair has created two world of magic and intrigue. Darkborns are blind and sonn to see.The light will turn them to ashes. Ligthborns cannot tolerate darkness, it drains life from them.
Baltasar, a Darkborn middle class physician is married to the high born mage Telimane; they have two daughters. When Balthasar delivers his brother ex-girlfriend twins all hell breaks loose.
Outside of these two worlds there is the Shadowborn; the plots thickens.. waiting for book 2

Very good fantasy. Set in a world separated by dark and light there are the Darkborn whom light kills and there are the Lightborn whom darkness kills. There are also the elusive and deadly Shadowborn who are plotting to overtake the Dark and Light.

I am cutting my losses, this is not a book for me.

In a world where the Darkborn can be killed by light and the Lightborn killed by dark, the two races typically live separately. Not so in Minhorn where they live side by side. Balthasar Hearne shares a wall with Floria White Hand and it is she who ultimately saves his life when two thugs break in intent on learning as much as they can about a recent patient of Bal's. Bal is left for dead and it is his own wife, who has been hiding her magical abilities, who helps to heal him. But when their own daughter is kidnapped as ransom, they realize that they must do whatever it takes to find her.

Rich in creative history and magic, a great fantasy read and first in a new trilogy.
