Ice was a short book, comparable to a category length book. While I liked parts of it, I thought Lolly and Gabriel lacked chemistry.

The emphasis really wasn't on the romance in Ice, and that could be where it faltered for me. If it had been longer allowing for more tension between Lolly and Gabriel, perhaps it would have been different. Instead it felt rushed and quite unbelievable that these two would have any future.

The background of two meth addicts essentially invading Lolly's home coupled with an ice storm was almost overwhelming to the romance. The two meth addicts were unrelenting, and at one point I wondered if Nikki was like Jason from Friday the Thirteenth - you know, he keeps coming back no matter what you do to him.

Usually I enjoy Linda Howard books, but unfortunately this one fell far short of her usual romantic suspense.
