Snow Falling on Cedars

by David Guterson

This is the kind of book where you can smell and hear and see the fictional world the writer has created, so palpably does the atmosphere come through. This is a wonderful book. The story line is fascinating and the mystery gradually unfolds. The author paints a haunting picture. I highly recommend this book.

I actually liked the movie of this book. It was humble yet justly exploitive of the book and the main characters, visually. The narrative of the book suggested a lengthy, decadent interpretation of actual, recorded historic events.

It's been a few years since I read it, but it's been catching my attention on my bookshelf again. The film is one of favorites and so is this book. Very emotional. Felt like I was really there. Not a typical love story.
