A wonderful sequel to Parable of the Sower. I enjoyed catching up with the characters from the Sower book and following their progress, but then horrible events encroach upon their community. For 70 some odd pages, it was torturous reading but the ending was true to the spirit of Earthseed. I...

Book One was so good, I'd like to follow up with Book Two.

This was a good book although I liked Parable of the sower better. I hated the narrator of this book she was extremely selfish and didn't try to see her mother's perspective so it made me not enjoy the book as much as parable of the sower.

What can I say if I didn't find her I would have given up on Sci-fi altogether. This woman deserved many distinguished awards before her untimely demised. Her characters were complex without becoming unbearable. How each character was able to grow and become stronger was masterfully done. Tragedy met sheer will and dignity to survive. I fell in love with the series

There is a big jump in time in this book and the reader must make a leap of faith to believe the changes which must have happened during the time skimmed over could possibly have happened. I love Ms Butler's writing and will look for other books she wrote, but I don't hink this is one of her best.

Sequel to Parable of the Sower. This is about what happens in a religious backlash after society has seriously started going down the toilet. Lauren Olamina and her Earthseed community are pretty much considered heretics and aren't allowed to practice their lifestyle of fostering change toward mankind's growth, and we get to follow the story of her people (including her daughter). Wonderful, wonderful book.

This is the sequel to Parable of the Sower. In this book, Lauren's daughter Larkin looks back on her mother's life primarily through excerpts from Lauren's journals. While the outcome of Lauren's efforts to establish Earthseed are utlimately successful, a lot of bad stuff happens before the success rolls around. While it was interesting, I didn't enjoy reading it very much.
