I read this book 2 years ago, but my book club is discussing it this month. The fascination for me lies in the sociology of human-vampire relationships developed by Butler. I feel that she purposely wrote this book to jar the human psych, as in the beginning where Shori is first introduced to the readeras a confused, weak, and helpless soul...then Shori chases down a deer and eats it raw sinew, blood and all. Whew, Dorothy's not in Kansas anymore. LOL!
