“ Echo Burning is like rollercoaster...fast, up, down and sideways. I am still a little stunned that this character is so compelling and attractive. I come from a military family and think of my father as a warrior (both the good and the bad issues, and nothing like Reacher), so perhaps that is the draw. Whatever, this was a riveting story and I could not put it down. Somewhat predictable and pat, but totally entertaining. I would recommend this series highly to the crime/adventure/hero addict”

The plot was highly suspenseful, and the characters other than Reacher were well-developed. The child was particularly engaging. He also did an excellent job of portraying the vastness of an often ignored part of the United States. My one quibble is that he seems to regard the Texas Rangers and the "state police" as one and the same. Both the Texas Rangers and the State Troopers from the Highway Patrol are part of the Department of Public Safety, but the likelihood of two Rangers showing up on a nuisance call is slim. For one thing, there are there are only 134 commissioned Rangers to cover the 268000+ square miles of Texas. In spite of my pickiness, I found this book to be a compelling read.”

Reacher uses his best judgment to believe the wife, which turns out to be the correct call. The D.A. has hired killers to off his two buddies, the only ones who know about the string of thrill murders of wetbacks the trio did as teens years ago.”

Reacher almost doubts himself, he doesn't quite get to the point where he thinks he was absolutely wrong, but he is heading that way when he figures it all out. Also there aren't quite as many people that Reacher feels he has to beat down. Only a couple of killings and a few broken bones. A softer, gentler Reacher.”

Not only does Child tell a fantastic story, but Jack Reacher is one of the good guys ~ one of the guys that does whatever has to be done to fix whatever's wrong. And if you're on the side opposite to Reacher, watch out, 'cause he's more than just strong, he's SMART and he never gives up.”
