“RantHave you read this? It sounds very interesting but, and I'm hoping to start reading some of Chuck's stuff---would this be a good one to start with?”
“not a good one to start with. I just finished reading it today and i'm still trying to digest it. I'm going to have to go back and read it again...Choke is a good one, survivor is another. This probably wouldn't be the best one to start with.”
“Hey Rant fans, This made me chuckle: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6625397.stmGreat timing. ”
“This is a pretty good read, but if you want his best work I recommend Invisible Monsters. Although, since that book is the best, you might want to read it last so his other amazing works aren't ruined for you =)”
“I'm with some of your put off coworkers. I also work for a B&N. We weren't so lucky to get an ARC, but I bought the book the day of release. I waited a week or so to pick it up, and it read nice and quick and had an interesting style...I agree with that part. I just think that it was kinda empty. Not in the sense of hinting, as you mention...I think it has a sloppy feel to it. I can't explain it really. It definitely would be interesting to know if he's into Icke's work at the moment. It wouldn't surprise me in the least. ”
“I agree with everyone else. DO NOT start with this book. Choke and Survivor are my favorites. Invisible Monster would be another good starter. To be honest, I think this is the worst Chuck book out there. While it's well written and has an interesting story, it's still lacking something.”
“I agree! Stranger than Fiction is one of my favorites of his. I am a little over half way through Rant and I got to say, I really like it. ”
“Rant is a great book, and once you've 'acclimated' yourself to Chuck's style. Start with Fight Club. Still my fav, and a great novel all around!”
“Start with Choke or Fight Club then work up the ladder. I would save Rant until you've gotten broader experience with Palahniuk's work - it's pretty kinky.”
“I'm a big Chuck fan. His writing style is rather unique though. I wouldn't start with Rant. Go with "Choke" to get into Chuck's work. I also highly recommend "Stranger than Fiction". You'll know if you love him when you finish those, then you will be able to better appreciate a book like "Rant". Very good book!!!”
