“I picked this one up a while back, but hadn't gotten around to reading it until now. I enjoyed it. I've only previously read Palahniuk's Choke. Of course, I've seen Fight Club, but I haven't gotten a change to read it yet. Palahniuk feels like a cross between the humor of Christopher Moore and the edginess of Bret Easton Ellis. The things he writes make your jaw drop open (lol considering which book I'm talking about. ;) but they make you laugh at the same time. ”

I listened to the audio book of Invisible Monsters, and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. He definitely has a different way of writing a novel. This story had so many twists and turns especially towards the end that I would stay in my car and finish listening and be late to work. OR I would run to my room as soon as I got home to put the CD in and listen. I have to admit though, that so far with Palahnuik's books, I get confused and I have to re-read(re-listen) to pieces because it is pretty confusing.
Invisible Monsters was about a model who gets her face shot at to the point where she has no more jaw, she can't speak, and her face is so disfigured that she has to cover it everywhere she goes. I don't want to say too much without giving away all of the jaw-dropping twists. I will definitely read more of Chuck Palahnuik :)”

This was a weird book but you have to stick with it. I liked the overall 'moral of the story' and once you get through the book, there is a lot you can go back and appreciate. However, the style in which the author writes was a little weird/different for my taste.
This is the story of a beautiful model who has her face shot off at the beginning of the book. She must live her life under a veil because her face is so disfigured after the shooting. The author takes her through her adventures with her best friends until we finally find out the whole story. Weird but good.

“Best Chuck besides Fight Club. Also, the first book where a description made me physically sick to my stomach. In a good way. ”

Chuck is one of my favorite authors and I have read many of his books but I loved this one. It lured me in from start to finish and resolved perfectly at the end. Highly recommended from me. ”

This is echoed throughout the book - the plotline and its characters motives. Revealed humourously and even shockingly at times, this is a great novel with a very distinctive voice. Hard not to giggle and be amused at how it all unravels.
