I began reading this book mainly because it inspired Panic at the Disco's song, Time to Dance. I ended up beginning to read other Chuck books, and I am now on Haunted!

Rereading it after about 8 years.

Just as good the second time around.

    Reading someone else's review...

"Somehow I managed to finish this god awful book. Has this author ever spoken to a woman before? The way he tries to express female emotion is painful to read. "

Palahniuk ALWAYS does some research when he's writing. Invisible Monsters was inspired by a real woman, author of The Autobiography of a Face (Lucy Grealy). She was born with her face disfigured. From what the reviews show, Palahniuk's version of the woman isn't that far off the mark. She may have been disfigured, but she was all about the "me, me, me" in life.

I can hardly say that Palahniuk is a misogynist. Have you read Bukowski? ;)

I have to agree with you Mrs. B...I've attempted to read this book three times and have always stopped and started something else. I haven't had that problem with any other Palahniuk book, but something about IM just doesn't do it for me.

Did anyone else besides Shaina C find this a quick, easy read? I find myself reading slower than normal. Maybe this is because I'm just finished the first two chapters.
