Survivor: A Novel

by Chuck Palahniuk

Some say that the apocalypse swiftly approacheth, but that simply ain't so according to Chuck Palahniuk. Oh no. It's already here, living in the head of the guy who just crossed the street in front of you, or maybe even closer than that. We saw these possibilities get played out in the author's bloodsporting-anarchist-yuppie shocker of a first novel, Fight Club. Now, in Survivor, his second... (read more)

Definitely worth the read. Liked it better than Invisible Monsters. The combination of really strange images and moods are what make me want to continue reading Palahniuk. I really appreciated the count-down of the chapters and pages -- subtlety appropriate.

I just didn't get this. What a strange book. Amish Cults and a very narrow viewpoint. Kind of like Max Barry on a bad LSD trip. Not my kind of book.

Wow, well this was the second of Palahniuk's books that I've read and even though I loved Fight Club, I think I actually liked this boook even more. Fight Club and Survivor have similar beginings and endings though. They both begin at the end and they both end with oblivion. Even though they have definite similarities, I like the writing style a lot. Survivor has more humor in it which i liked and more suspense as well. An excellent and enjoyable read.

This was the second CP book I read andit was actually before Fight Club. And I have to say that actually liked this one more than I liked Fight Club. FC was good, don't get me wrong, this one just clicked with me more for some reson. I do agree that his books are very similar to eachother, I guess he found a system that worked for him. Has anyone else found that they kind of have to be in a certain mood to read his books? For some reason, I just can't pick up a Chuck book and read it anytime.

Damn, I loved this story when I read it 4 years ago..
I'm still wondering.. When will this book be made into a great movie? Who would play who? I always imagined a Ralph Fiennes-type as the main character... or even Kevin Spacey.
