“The writing is so pretentious that it makes it hard to enjoy without rolling your eyes every few lines. It wasn't horrible, but it was well over-hyped to me. There were some interesting situations and characters that got me interested early, but it all kind of fell apart soon after.”
“If you hybridized Ken Kesey with Charles Bukowski and got your new creation hooked on crack he might write like this guy. Chuck is not afraid of writing raw. He delves right into that dirty underbelly of American culture and not only dares to tell about it but adds his own insane imaginings to it. So, imagine you are a sex addict. Not a big leap of imagination for me and perhaps, more than would like to admit but now, imagine you are the second coming of Christ nailing (not with actual nails) your mother's doctor on an altar after a long day working as an 18th century prop at a replicated colonial tourist town. Now you have an idea of what Chuck can not only get away with writing but actually writes it so you can almost believe it. I almost bought it all. There are a few things in his writing that are a bit far fetched to buy but overall he writes the most bizarrely believable stuff I perhaps, have read to date. Oh, and this is a feel good book. You will feel like you are a better person after it. At least better than the characters in it, if things like morality are at all important to you. Or, conversely, you may decide the life of a sex addict sounds pretty damn exciting and you want to emulate. If so, there are lots of helpful hints.””
