“Did I miss the joke? This is supposed to be like The Eye of Argon, a hilariously awful parody of fantasy. Right?
This is the first line: "The stains of rust seemed to map bloody seas on the black, pocked surface of Mock's Vane." Next to the terrified revelation that was the first sentence of Finnegan's Wake, this is the worst opening line I've ever read.
The name of the first character we meet? Ganoes Stabro Paran. Make your own joke; it's too easy.
I only lasted a few pages. Books shouldn't be this hard to read. This thing should have gone through some editors before it was published; at the very least, the author should have read it twice.”
