This was not as good as I expected. I thought I would feel more deeply when reading. It was not as full of wisdom as I expected

Maya Angelou has not had an easy life. But is a poet hands above most and a Poet Laureate who wrote a poem for President Clinton's inauguration. This is a book that shows us more of her spirit and her soul.

I just finished this book. It is a glimmer into an extra-ordinary woman's life.

such a disappointment cause i love her poetry. but her life and thus her stories are just too graphically disturbing.

A very interesting book. Maya Angelou is very candid about her life. She tell of the ups and downs of her careers. Her relationship with her son. Her life in New York City.

Great insight into the life of a great "real" woman. Love it.

I agree with Sarah I.-- it's hard to believe that this is Maya's story. She seems so completely different than the "Maya" in the book, but I guess that's what life is about... It's inspiring to know how much she endured.

I especially enjoyed the vignettes on the various famous people Maya has had contact with.

Oh, the heart of this woman. Poignant, touching, vulnerable, humorous.
