I enjoy Davidson's light, fun worlds where love and sex rule. I found the central relationship in "The Royal Mess" a little underdeveloped. Davidson did a better job of developing the main love stories in "The Royal Treatment" and "The Royal Pain." As in most romance novels, the love happened instantly, which i can except, it is a romance novel after all, but i need a little more build up. I need my characters to talk a little more before they start to have sex and fall madly and forever in love. After they consummated their relationship, Nicole and Jeff still conversed very little. Still, if you like Davidson and the Alaskan Series, you should read it.”

This story is definitely written in the Alaskan Royal Family series style. I enjoyed the first book very much with the back and forth of a smart mouthed broad and a royal. I somewhat enjoyed the second book with a smart mouthed chick royal and an odd-duck doctor. I just couldn't get into this third book about... a smart mouthed broad (an illegitimate royal) and a member of the security team for the royal family. Maybe it's because I read the books back-to-back that I just couldn't seem to finish this book.
As with MaryJanice Davidson's other books, this is a good, easy read - but I just couldn't continue this book. I particularly enjoy her Betsy books and feel invested in those characters. With the Alaskan Royal series, you have some carryover of characters (the royal family) from book to book, but the focus is on another potential couple in each novel, so I didn't really care what happened to any of the characters in the second and third novel the way that I did in the first novel with the match up of Christina and David.”
“Not my favorite of the 3 books. The story seemed rushed, and not a developed. Especially the Kings relationship. That seemed to come out of nowhere.”

A country with a King (the Queen is dead), and a whole bunch of Princesses and Princes.
Who are all pretty much bonkers. Start raving bonkers. And thoroughly delightful.
In this book in the series, it's revealed that, before the King had gotten married, he had fathered a child by another woman. A girl who is now the first in line for the throne.
That's Nicole, a young woman used to being on her own who runs fishing and hunting trips. And who now has to adjust to the life in the totally bonkers palace.
This is a thoroughly delightful, hilarious funny book, well worth reading.”
“This is the 3rd book from the Alaskan royal family series. The Royal Mess was a very fun book to read. It made me laugh out loud the whole time.”

Nicole's now deceased mother had a fling with King Alex before he was married and in order to fulfill her mother's final wishes, Nicole contacted the family. Now she's in really deep, and has fallen in love with her bodyguard. Fun and laughs as usual! 101907”
