Torey Hayden has a way of stretching her stories. I couldn't put the book down because I kept wanting to read more and find out more about the people in her story and how she handled the problem.

Everything Torey Hayden writes is capable of breaking your heart but uplifting your soul. This is on par with the rest of her works.

This book has taught me more about handling children with psychological issues and I will continue reading her books to learn more.

This is my favorite book by Torey Hayden because DID/MPD and Sign Language are my two most favorite areas to study and learn about. This is a beautiful story about two young kids and an older woman who Torey is able to help and learn from and it is such a great read. I have read this book several times and it still gives me the chills!

This is a great book. Torey is no longer a Teacher in this book. However she still works with the selectively mute children. Drake is a pleasant little boy,who needs Toreys help. In this book she also decides to help an elderly lady. Not nearly as dark as her first book One Child, yet just as great.

I really like these Torey Hayden books but because they are true stories about children with severe issues the language and content can be harsh.

This was an amazing book! Each time I opened it I got lost and rewoke to the world 2 or 3 hours later - amazing and heartbreaking stories told from a great author.

A four-year-old boy who had never spoken, a seven-year-old girl severely troubled after years of various abuses, an 82-year-old woman who stopped speaking after suffering a stroke: All were in danger of becoming casualties of an overburdened mental health care system until one woman entered their lives and brought to them the compassion, hope, dignity, and understanding they so desperately needed.

Very interesting. I'm still not sure why she included the 3rd person--it was so unresolved it really left me wanting more. Any Torey Hayden book is a good book in my opinion.

Very good. It's non-fiction, but it reads like a story. The characters (real people) are fascinating and I couldn't wait to find out what happened to them.
