I just finished this and am interested in knowing what others thought of it. I can't ever look at a unicorn without thinking of the anology the author used. I liked learning about the complexities of making tapistries.

I really liked it as a novel. I really liked the scheming characters, the ones with agendas, like Nicolas and Claude's mother (can't remember her name). The scheming characters contrasted really well with the more innocent ones. I think that's the reason I enjoyed it so much, but it's a good story as well.

An interesting, though simply written, book about a set of tapestries and the lives of the people that create them. While the characters are interesting, they are not necessarily always likable.

now i learned how hard and very complex to weaved the tapestries . its a masterpiece work of art.
The unicorn should be magical and mystical i believe, but in the story it portrait the antics of the artist.

I really enjoyed this book and I was able to get through it relatively quick. I do think though that it was too similar to "Girl with a Pearl Earring". Sure, it may be in a different country, a different time period, and about a whole other work of art, but she uses the same formula of applying romance to the storyline so as to make it an easy read. While this makes for a fun read, it doesn't make this book worthy of merith, because when you scrape away all the historical glamour you're just reading a romance novel.
