Sometimes they are a bit odd, but they are so beautiful and fantastic.

YESSS YESSS YESSS. Francesca Lia Block has taken magical realism and made it work in an American context.

This book is a compilation of the five books, Weetzie Bat, Witch Baby, Cherokee Bat and the Goat Guys, Missing Angel Juan, and Baby Be-Bop, five books I loved to read as a teenager. They are lyrically and poetically written, with real sadness and real problems affecting the characters. Still, there is a magical theme around the plots that interest the reader and pique their imagination. I love these books and still read them.

Loved to read FLB books in my teenage desolation... and a little beyond that. I still enjoy them and would like to own them someday. Love this book.

This book changed my life. FLB's voice is lyrical and melodic, she is capable of evoking emotions even when you think you've utterly shut yours off. She is a voice that can span a handful of generations, changing lives and hearts as she goes.
