“A thoroughly and completely unnecessary sequel. With all due respect to Eoin Colfer, he is not Douglas Adams, and the endearing charm of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series was more than just stories including the character, it was the wit infused in the writing that was unique to the twisted mind of Adams.
I would not expect anyone to be capable of emulating his style, and Colfer is no exception. The series in no way demanded a continuation, its story was as clearly and completely wrapped up as one could ever hope and this extension seems like purely a money grabbing exercise, and it is a travesty that it should have been allowed to happen.
This book brings nothing interesting or fresh to the series, and just feels like an unnecessary waste of everyone's time. This is not an attack on Colfer who seems a perfectly adequate writer, but his was a fools errand to accept such a task of continuing the HHGTTG series.
Do not waste your time with this book.”
