This one concentrates on the military aspects of the American Revolutionary War, in particular the tactics and strategy involved.

Guelzo's an enthusiastic lecturer, producing vivid and dramatic descriptions of the battles. He even likes to end his lectures with little cliffhangers.

That's helpful because the war itself wasn't that interesting from a dramatic point of view, though possibly patriotism would help. Both sides were plagued by logistical difficulties: the British from their long supply lines, the Americans from their lack of funds. That might be a fundamental problem with going to war in order not to pay taxes.

Basically the land forces slugged it out on roughly equal terms until the war widened to a naval conflict, with the Royal Navy simultaneously fighting the French, the Spanish and the Dutch. With ever-mounting costs, the Whig opposition who had always opposed the American war managed to win a majority in Parliament and ended the war, though the occupation of New York continued until the peace treaty was finalized.

Overall, pretty interesting and quite informative on 18th century warfare.
