This is one of my all-time favorite books. It was a fantastic wrap-up to this trilogy. If readers have read the books in order that she published one, they will already know the ending. I didn't, though, so it was a surprise to me. Once again, keep tissues on hand.

This is a satisfying conclusion to the Last Herald Mage trilogy, and powerful emotionally. The characters may be gay, but I think everyone can relate to the love story it tells. It's not about being gay so much as the timeless nature of true love. This may actually be the best of the three books.

I was a latecomer to the Valdemar series, and when I first got the whole set of The Last Herald Mage, I just couldn't force myself to put down the books!!! They are definitely Mercedes Lackey's best and most soul-searching works. I cried through all three books, especially Magic's Price. Her creation of Stefen was an innovative idea, and I greatly admire her brilliant presentation of gay themes throughout the trilogy.

This is definitely a must-read for those fantasy lovers out there who still believe in the quality of a well-written story that touches not only adventure & magic, but also love, honor, & loneliness. Once here, you can never draw yourself out of Valdemar ever again!!!

I'm so sad it's over. I fell in love with this series and the characters in it and I wish it didn't have to end. I picked this book up on Friday night and finished it on Sunday. It was so good I couldn't put it down. I really liked the way she ended it and I look forward to reading other boooks in the Valdemar series soon.

I really enjoy the Valdemar books, but for the common reader a few notes... If you're homophobic don't read them, this author is very open about alternative lifestyles and it can sometimes interfere with the story line. My husband liked these books, but I don't see a lot of men enjoying them. It almost (but not quite) crosses the line between fantasy and romance. I still really enjoyed them and I have to say I haven't met a romance book I've liked yet. Because of the unique approach these books read like no other fantasy book I've ever read and I give them very high marks. I actually ready most of the books written by Mercedes Lackey in about a months time I enjoyed them so much (much to my husbands dismay).
