So far my favorite book of Dean Koontz. It was really dark and disturbing , and I really liked the two main characters.

I loved the basic storyline, and as always the suspense was ratcheted up to the extreme. I wish I could give it four stars, but unnecessary nudity and profanity cost it a star.

Short and less well-developed than many of Koontz's others, this felt a bit more like a short story extended to a 'feature length' level, as opposed to a novel 'per se'. I was aware that the morality felt slightly forced and was also aware of the slightly 80's dated-ness more than I'd have liked, but it was an involving enough read.

Dean Koontz creates thrillers the equal of the best including Stephen King. What sets Koontz apart is that is characters are likable. You care about them which makes the plot twists even more thrilling.

The Voice of the Night was by far my most favorite novel I have read by Dean Koontz to date. The plot progressed quickly and the story line was well thought out and kept my attention throughout the novel. Colin, a new boy in town, quickly is befriended by Roy, the most popular boy in school. Roy is always trying to test the limits with Colin to see how far he can push him and how much he can handle. The reader quickly learns that Roy is a very disturbed teenager and has some serious mental issues. Colin realizes this and has to live his summer in fear of what Roy may do to him. Colin decides to take control once and for all and try to stop the evil that resides in Roy. However, Colin must change who he is to seek revenge against Roy. However, you must read the book to see what plan he concocts.

When I started reading this book I thought I knew where it was going and I wasn't too excited. I guess I have read too much King and I thought that the kids were going to go full evil. Instead, it went another direction. I thought the ending was a little abrupt.

A book about the need for adolescents by their peers and how far they will go to be accepted. Scary and creepy reading.
