This book cannot be described any better than the title iteself! This book is seriously DEEP!!!

It leaves you shaky at the end as the wonderful tale twists and turns it's way into all of the 'coulda been's' that make us pause and ponder through life.

I didn't think this book was a strong as the other books I've read by Megan Hart. I was surprised by the paranormal aspect of the book as well - it was unexpected. That being said, I enjoyed the book and was saddened by what happened to Nick - he was truly alone in the world.

Deeper is the story of Bess, the young and the old version. It evolves around her and the choices she makes, and the things that happen when she decides to risk her faerie tell ending for something a little bit more dangerous and uncertain. Thus comes Nick, the 'Bad Boy', who isn't really bad but a confused and full of hormones teenager who needs to find his way in life. Mix with emotion and sex, this book is deeper than the ocean.

I enjoyed parts of this book, the writing, the characters, the whole concept, the past and present game... But I also was left with a blank on other parts.

As I said the writing captures your attention since the first page, it's like you start reading it and your just keep going. Megan Hart has an amazing talent.

Character whise, well, I sometimes wanted to smack young Bess in the head, but she IS a teenager so, what the hell right?, adult Bess, though involved in a non-future relationship, she seems more in control of who she is. Nick, well, Nick... Am, I seem to want to eat him, but that's like it. He is so insecure, I just want a big Eddie. I so want her to end up with Eddie, and does she? Hm I don't know, and if I did know I wouldn't tell YOU anyways.

And although the book is Erotica, it's not all about sex. It has a clear story line, and yeah sex IS on the menu, but on parts that make sense mostly.

Now, the non good parts. I likes that some of the supernatural was on the book, but, I felt like I needed more explaining on that part. No, scratch that, a LOT of explaining on that part. And well it seemed to fit on the story sometimes, and sometimes it just didn't. Also, why is Bess with Andy anyways? He is a super duper ASS. And well, the ending was a biter-sweet one, and although you probably knew it would happen, you just didn't want to hear it. But, it leaves room for possibility *hint* *hint*

All in all good read, it occupies your time, and a fantastic beginning into the whole world of Erotica, if you want to read some of that well, go with Megan Hart.

This was different - and i'm still not sure if I liked it more than 3 stars!

Bess was just 20 when she had the use of her grandparent's beach house, had a job, and met Nick at a party. She, however, was just about engaged to Andy, whom she'd been with for four years back in Pennsylvania. But he acted distant, didn't call when he was supposed to, wasn't available when she'd call him - and she just knew he was cheating on her. So she eventually gave his brother a message to tell Andy she said Goodbye. The fact that Nick was rumored to use girls all the time didn't matter - Bess wanted him. Eventually, he wanted her, too - and their time together was amazing to both of them, even though he never gave her the feeling she meant as much to him as he did to her. When things seemed to be ending, though, he promised to see her in Pennsylvania - but never showed up.

Twenty years later, with a divorce from Andy pending and with two grown sons, Bess decided to move to the beach house, which she'd inherited, for good. While sitting on the beach remembering the idyllic intimacies she and Nick had enjoyed, a sudden presence surrounded her - and there was Nick! Their loving resumed - always wonderful to her and satisfying to Nick. This time, he told her he loved her. When her two boys arrived, things had to change somewhat - and eventually, Bess had to make a decision about her life with or without Nick.

I enjoyed reading this , but of course there were situations I had problems with - and maybe was supposed to. Nick's quick anger and need to dominate; Bess's willingness to often be whatever he wanted. But when she became more sure of herself that made me feel better. So, I'm not sure - so I gave it 3 stars. The sexual scenes deserved a lot more, though! Again, if there were half-stars, it would be a 3.5.

Deeper is the heartbreaking story of Bess Walsh told from two different vantage points, Then and Now. Then was one summer twenty years ago when Bess met bad boy Nick who consumed all her waking thoughts. They had a whirlwind romance and promised to meet, but something happened along the way to interfere. Now is Bess separated from her husband Andy and has decided to reevaluate her life. She is staying back at the beach house where it all began and she begins to think about Nick and what happened to him. As if she conjured him up herself he appears to her unchanged by twenty years. Strangely enough Nick is as real as any other person, only he has no heartbeat and doesn't need to eat or sleep. Finally, Bess finds out what happened that fateful night long ago.

Megan Hart is a fantastic storyteller. Her writing will engross readers the minute they turn that first page. She has a way of evoking a wide spectrum of emotions, due in a large part to her great, realistic characters. She chooses Beth and Nick with whom readers will largely relate too. They share the same hopes and dreams, fears and concerns that everyone faces at some point in their lives. Hart doesn't shy away from the gritty details and she is certainly not afraid to have her characters make some tough decisions. Sure enough Bess and Nick both face heartbreaking choices and they don't always make the right decision. They have to live with their mistakes and learn from them.

For some readers, Bess and Nick will frustrate them. Bess has a tendency to make choices she deems safe, even though it may not be the right choice for her. Look where her safe choices lead her - to constantly wondering what might have been. Nick constantly refers to himself as an asshole. At times he does act like a jerk, but he isn't an asshole. It's just that he is a young kid who is unsure of himself and he needs to grow up.

Deeper is not a romance. This is a book about self discovery. It is about learning who you are, what you are capable of and learning that if something is worth while then you have to take a risk. I will be honest, the ending of this book is heart wrenching. There is not a traditional HEA (happily ever after) and I am fairly certain that readers of romance will not be satisfied with the ending of this book. I had a very difficult time rating this book. It is a deeply moving book, one that will resonate with readers long after they finish it. Even though the book is capable of making such an impact, it is not one that I would likely read again or place among my cherished favorites. It's just too bittersweet.
