“I love how well Ian McEwan knows people and can conjure them. He is sensitive to small details, movements, and emotions that make each character very real. I also enjoyed the shifting perspective of the book, and how this leads to a complicated meaning of truth, and the reminder that we are all fallible.”

“I was really disappointed with this book. I felt like the author just decided he wrote enough so he ended the book - I kept waiting for the big conclusion that answers all the readers questions. Instead, it was like "uh everybody's dead." ”

“It took me awhile to get into this book as I tried to get the film out of my mind (good as it was); but when I really got into the book as the book, I found it fascinating. Without a doubt, it is beautifully written. I sometimes read sentences over out loud as they were so exquisitely crafted. I highly recommend it.”
