“For the first part of the book I was completely captivated. The characters were all interesting and the author does a fantastic job with imagery. However, I lost interest in the second half that focuses on Robbie's war experience. The middle of the book has no connection, it’s rather a separate story that makes the book far too long. In keeping with “Atonement” the reader could have just used their imagination to imagine the horror Robbie went through, which would have made for a quicker read. Also, I was very disappointed that Celia’s character was lost in the second half of the book, for I found her to be the most interesting character. ”
