• Rebecca Brown: A girl that moves from New York to New Orleans, main character. Develops feelings for Anton Grey. Sees a ghost
• Anton Grey: Part of the "old-line" families, Anton is friends with the Bowmans and the Suttons. Rebecca is told to stay away from him. He does not seem like the other elites. He likes Rebecca.
• Aunt Claudia & Aurelia Vernier: Rebecca's "aunt" and "cousin" who live in New Orleans.
• Helena Bowman: Queen bee of Temple Mead Academy, a junior, the daughter of a rich and important family. May be a victim of a curse.
• Lisette: Lisette is the most important person/ghost of this book. She helps Rebecca, saves everything, and she was murdered by someone in the Bowman family 155 years ago.
