“Ophelia Jensen’s good witch granny Abigail revels in her paranormal powers. But Ophelia never asked for her bothersome psychic abilities — especially since they proved worthless when the thirty-something librarian’s best friend Brian was murdered by a still-unknown assailant.
Now, five years later, another friend is gone, killed in almost identical fashion. Even dear old Abby isn’t safe, distracted as she is by her fight to prevent a massive, mega-polluting pig-farming operation from invading their small Iowa town. And Ophelia can’t count on her snarling, scoffing nemesis, police detective Henry Comacho, to get the job done, so she’ll have to take matters into her own hands. Because a common thread to the crimes — and a possible next victim — is suddenly becoming troublingly apparent . . . and it’s Ophelia Jensen herself!

“ Charmed to Death Shirley Damsgaard
5 stars
Ophelia Jensen is just starting to embrace her gift of being a psychic and a witch. Her grandmother keeps warning of more danger, something that Ophelia just does not want to hear. Five years after the death of her best friend Brian, another friend is found murdered in the same exact way. And her dreams tell her that she is the one that she is after.

“This is the 2nd book in the series and I am reading it second after the 4th book which I read 1st. Are you with me so far?
Ophelia (town Librarian) & her Grandmother Abby have the "Gift", which has passed Abby's mother by. Abby is having to go this alone, but is guided by her Great Grandmother's Rune Stones. Abby has visions & dreams...which are as horrific as the murders themselves. Abby is being tracked by a serial killer who previously killed her best friend Brian and later several other professional homosexual men. In the mix is the community that is fighting a large corporate "Hog Farm", which pollutes the rivers and land.
I like the series, the books are well written...however I have also been able to figure out the Red Herrings and the killers before the conclusion. I am not thrilled with the graphic violence of the murders or her visions. I would prefer there to be more information of her & her grandmother's "Gifts".

“Ophelia has never been sure about being a witch and the psychic powers that come with it. Five years ago when her best friend dies and she sees it happen through her powers but is unable to prevent it, she runs from her gift. Now that she is starting to pull herself together and deal with her abilities, a killer has to come calling. Ophelia now needs to find out who is killing people before they kill her, a loved one, or she is arrest by the cop who almost arrested her five years ago.
This book was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys a little mystery and magic in a quick and fun read.”

I love in this second book that she has added more back story about Ophelia, about why she is the way that she is and why she is so resistent about her gift. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!”

Ophelia again stumbles upon a dead body in the small town of Summerset, Iowa. Now, she has to deal with her emerging psychic gifts alone since grandmother Abby is indisposed and the town is full of person’s from her past trying to link her to previous murders. A quick read murder mystery where the secondary characters, at times, seem more interesting than the lead character. The series makes you wonder if living in a quiet, small town might be more dangerous than city life.”

Even though I figured out the killer early the whys of the acts of murder were suprising. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.”

The plans for a corporate pig farm to be built close to the town has the citizens up in arms. Author makes her personal position clear without preaching, and manages to weave old murders, new murders, witchcraft and relationships in an excellent fast read”

I enjoyed the first book more than this one, mainly because Ophelia spent the first book rejecting her powers. In this one she realizes it is her fate and works with it.
I enjoyed the "witch hunt" element, since I enjoy reading about the Salem Witch Trials. That was a nice plot addition.
In this mystery, Ophelia is searching for the murderer of her best friend, Brian. The murderer is stalking her in the small town, and it is up to her to catch him/her.”
