The first of this author's books I read, just made me want more. One of my favorite authors. An extremely talented writer who obviously writes from the heart.

What a disappointing follow-up to Angela's Ashes!

Slower reading than Angela's Ashes at times and I didn't think the quality of writing was as impressive as Angela's Ashes but still an incredible book.

Read this a few years ago, but it's a must to have in my Library. A true story heartful story, that really tells what proverty was really like. Loved this novel, movie is good too.

This book is the second of the three by McCourt (Anglela's Ashes is first and Teacher Man is last).

Have loved all three of McCourt's books. Couldn't put any of the three down.

This one gets more into his teaching preparation and early days in NYC's public schools. Most teachers will enjoy reading what he went through in his early days in NYC -- working to survive, deciding whether money or education was his key, night school, and dealing with family and friends.

Not as good as Angela's Ashes, but still worth the read.

I actually read this before Angela's Ashes, and like it just as much as a stand alone story.
