violence is only a minimal part of the fascination (or repulsion) of this book. which is a masterpiece of writing and social critique. a breakthrough in literature for style an narration, in my opinion.

don't get annoyed by the apparent superficiality of the story and characters, and of the extreme use of shocking violence: it's not the novel, it's the society, and noone managed to depict it so clearly (and painfully) like Ellis. Palahniuk, maybe. and if you like Palahniuk you...

I don't care if a book has torture, rape, murder...unlimited violence, but leave the animals alone. Besides the random animal cruelty, I would have been able to finish this book.

There are fragments of this book that show signs of genius, but those are few and far between. Unfortunately, but to Ellis's luck, this book got great press for its unacceptable violence, which I must say was okay. It's definitely not the worst of his books (ie The Rules of Attraction), but it you want to read a great novel, it's all about Less Than Zero.

Es un libro impresionante, cada capítulo es una fina descripción mordaz de una mente asesina y bestial. La narración te va envolviendo al grado de estremecerte por el miedo. La película no le hace honor, por mucho, recomiendo el libro.

To add to what everyone has already said, this book is a very very well-written book, but i wouldn't recommend this to people who don't have a stomach for it, and a very large stomach at that, lol.
