“An interesting twist for the vampire genre and I kinda like how gritty this book was. It kept some of the classic vices for vampires but also added some new ones. I loved that as the sun got closer to rising they become so extremely weak and totally lost conscientiousness when it was up.. So far I haven't read a book were the author made that so pronounced and Hendee used that to her advantage. There were a few moments in this book where you were sure that the vampires wouldn't make it to safety. Plus you had the cool idea of the vampire world feeling the loss of one of their own bloodline passing. That was really neat.
The history was done fantastically. You never got more then you needed and never were you bogged down with facts and trivia. When the history of a character was revealed it read like a mini book. You were shown rather then told and I love that. You got sucked into those mini's and got both the information and a better sense for the characters.
This book was more drama than anything else. I enjoyed meeting the various vampires and how Eleisha used her gift (both known and unknown) to aid them. That concept was brilliant and while there isn't intense action in this book the idea that vampires have been tricked and that she could be the solution to this problem will more than likely get me to pick up the next book in this series.”
