Didn’t Like It“Probably one of the worst books I've ever read. How she won the Noble prize I don't know.” see full review » see other reviews » |
“The Piano teacher is above all, a very well written book. I agree with everyone that it’s disturbing; it is, from page 5 until the last page, but it deserves more than saying it is a shocking piece of writing. It’s a very original book about a deranged mother-daughter relationship, failure and a rational/emotional dilemma governing sexual attraction. I think every bit of information had its place in the story and I’ve appreciated the changes in rhythm, the way the author revealed the shocking scenes. A must read.”

“Wonderful. Simply wonderful. ”

I think that this book is mainly about so called 'strange' needs, in this case sexual, that lot of people do not understand and do not want to understand. Comments of readers are a proof, too. The other thing - I simply loved the way Jelinek played with words ("Bach" for instance), so creative.”
