Also, the book promised that my mathlessness wouldn't impede comprehension; WRONG. Second half way over my head. ”

Although mainly an essayist and writer of fiction (Infinite Jest), DFW takes on the esoteric world of higher mathematics and specifically the problem of conceptualizing LARGE numbers, and infinity. What is commonly accepted as rote in your into calculus course in college actually turns on articles of faith, no more defensible than virgin births, resurrections of the dead, or reincarnation. If you are mathematically or philosophically inclined, nad you can concentrate long enough, you will find it uniquely interesting.”
