“Set in Leningrad during the German blockade of WWII, this is the story of young Tatiana and soldier Alexander. Turns out A. is actually an American and dying to return to America, but has also realized there's no way he can return w/o T. once he's met her. They eventually get married, but T. is betrayed by "friend" Dimitri to the KGB. Knowing that T. would never leave Russia if she thought he was alive, A. persuades a Red Cross doctor to issue a death certificate to T. to get her to flee to America with him. She does, and arrives in America just in time to deliver her son.”
