It seems like everyone else in the world loved this book ... except me. Oh, I really do dislike it. To start with, in all the years I've been either a library patron or employee, this is the only book that I've checked out that I ruined. Not once, but twice did I spill stuff all over it. That...

Well, this is the perfect holiday read from a book club member who promised a "trashy romance" for our Christmas read. I LOVE Russian history and LOATHE trashy romances, so I will be interested to see how this pans out... So far, it's all breathy romance, interspersed with events leading up to the seige of Leningrad.
It seems like Alexander and Tatia will never get together - but we know they will, cos there's another novel called "Tatiana and Alexander", isn't there?
Although this is entertaining, I definitely do draw the line at comparing it with Dr Zhivago, as stated on the cover (NEVER belive the blurb:-)) - it does have a pair of tragic lovers who seem like they will never get together caught in the midst of a Russia in turmoil, but that's as far as the comparison goes...
I had read Tully by the same author many years ago (it was a big hit with the 16 year olds at school).

f I could give one book 10 stars this would be the book. Oh this book was so amazing. From beginning to the end I just loved this book. Set in Leningrad, Russia during WWII right before Leningrad gets starved out by Hitler, Tatiana and Alexander meet and can't be seperated from one another. Their love endures every hardship imaginable but their love remains true and strong.
I was upset with the ending but then found out that this is a trilogy so I can hardly wait for the book to arrive.

I absolutely loved this book! Alexander and Tatiana have so much pitched against them but their love conquers all. You will cry while reading this book... I did.
Although, I'm not fan of the extensive 'love' scenes...

The only good parts in this book, were the descriptions of life during siege. I had to skip the lovemaking pages, really nauseating. I couldn't stomach two more of these books to save my life.

This was one of those books I could not put down. All women should read this beautiful romance.
