Catching Fire is a very fast-paced thrilling book. I would maybe put in the fantasy range or realistic fiction range. Suzanne Collins really captures the attention of her readers through her books by making them full of intensity. Just like an action/ adventure movie. Catching Fire was very good, I never wanted to put it down. In District twelve lots of things are changing, more peacekeepers than Katniss can ever remember. Gale has been hurt severely by the new Head Peacekeeper that Katniss does not like, and Peeta is acting differently. President Snow came to District twelve to talk to Katniss threatening her loved ones lives. If Katniss doesn’t convince President Snow her love for Peeta on the Victory Tour he will hurt them. President Snow said to Katniss, “I think we’ll make this whole situation a lot simpler by agreeing not to lie to eachother.” After going on the Victory Tour to each District Katniss and Peeta are going to get married soon. But the Districts are starting to rebel against the Capital because of Katniss’ courage in the Hunger Games.
In this series most people think that Gale is Katniss’ cousin which is another secret that is hard to keep. Secrets are hard to keep anyway. Even though a women named Greasy Sae knows that Gale and Katniss aren’t related she goes along with it. Katniss says that even those who have known this have seemed to forget. Greasy Sae said to Katniss when she got home from the Games, “Your cousins can hardly wait to see you!”
I like this book because it does not slow down. It does not get overly confusing like another book I am reading that changes writing styles often, it would have rapid changes often in the book. I like Suzzane Collins because she does not mix up how she writes, which makes easy reading. This is one of my favorite books. I would rate it at about 4 stars because of the main story that the story is, and the ending of this book was totally unexpected! I suggest this book to anyone from the age of twelve and older.
