Audiobook version. 2.5 stars. Dragged, and I started to lose interest in the characters.

A distopian future that still gives us hope. A scarily believable world where the government control the population through fear and punishment through "The Reaping". I have heard comparisons drawn with Battle Royale, but while there are similarities this story is even better.

Very thrilling, as the others. I did enjoy it a lot better than the first entry in the trilogy, as it did widen its horizons a bit and focus on more than just the actual athletic event (if you can call it that) from which the trilogy takes its name. The only thing I was a bit disappointed with is that the second half of this book returns to the same subject — the Games themselves, which I felt were mainly an excuse or a pretext to get the reader invested in overthrowing the tyrannical Capitol. I wasn't sure the story really needed to return to this territory, although to do Collins justice she managed to make this iteration of the Games unique, standing alone from the first book in both plot, strategy, and setting, not to mention a plot twist I did not see coming at all.

Maybe because I'd heard that people didn't like this 2nd title in the trilogy, I thought it was pretty good and very exciting. The ending was beautifully made to make fans crazy waiting for "Mockingjay."

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audio book of Catching Fire. The narrator's voice for some characters was a little annoying, but I got used to and was engrossed in the story. I ended up listening to it every chance I got and blazed through it in 4 days. Now onto MockingJay.
