Like most of Alan Watts stuff, I really enjoy not just the message he his putting forth, but his ability to explain things through metaphor and analogy that help understand something in a completely new way which before was an idea just on the tip of your tongue. Great.

I you think you know who you are, don't read it.

This book is absolutely amazing. And it put me in a state of mind to get an A on a paper about Walt Whittman when no one else in my class would bother with the topic. Alan Watts gives a more thorough discussion of his philosophies than any other philosopher I've read. This is primarily due to the fact that he attacks his topic from all angles and speaks the language of a person who is searching for Truth.

This book, published in 1951, is still relevant.

I enjoy most anything by Watts but this is among his very best. Many fans of quantum theory also seem to like Watts so if you enjoy him run over and check out what quantum mechanics says about our universe. The two seem to nod in agreement an awful lot.
