Because Salinger’s output is so limited, this is a precious collection. He was one of the acknowledged masters of the short story in his day, and among these tales are some of the best and most famous short stories ever written – “A Perfect Day for Bananafish” and “For Esmé, With Love and Squalor” at the top of the list. The Glass family begins to crop up here, beginning the chronicles that would obsess Salinger for the rest of his career (as far as we know). A lively read.

Didn’t Like It

I started off liking a lot of the stories and probably would have enjoyed them more if I had read them all at once. They would entered my memory and now they're all lumped in my mind, aside from 'A Perfect Day for a Bananafish.' It's somewhat interesting how similar they all end, in shrouded mystery that isn't so much entertaining or with purpose.

I did NOT like this book, to me it was extremely boring. This is probably because I didn't understand it, and because I had to read it for a class

Very good stories, I just moved by "A Perfect Day For Bannana Fish" & "Teddy". The powerful thing about all stories are that you should think read again and conclude yourself of what really hapenned and what was the writer`sreal intentions and thoughts
