Though hilarious and irreverent, this book is remarkably true to the message of Jesus. A book Christians can learn from as well as laugh with.

The angel Raziel brings Levi (a.k.a. Biff), Jesus’ best friend, into the 21st century in order to write his story, about his life growing up with Joshua (later known as Jesus) as a best friend. As children, they both fall in love with Mary of Magdala (a.k.a. Maggie), but after she is married, they travel in search of the three wise men who were at Josh’s birth, in hopes they can explain to Josh what he is supposed to do in order to be the Messiah since he’s just not really sure.

I thought it was quite good, very funny and very well done. Like with some other historical fiction, there is an Afterword that explains Moore’s research. I really enjoyed this and I will definitely be reading more by Moore.

What a wonderful and hilarious book. While clearly not meant for those easily offended it provides great entertainment in the context of religious literacy. I especially liked how the story was used to "explain" some of the consistencies between Christianity and certain eastern religions. Awesome book.

The single funniest book I've ever read--laugh-out-loud, snort-the-milk-through-your-nose funny--it miraculously manages a kind of reverential irreverence.

This is the first Christopher Moore book I ever read and is by far my favorite. This book made me laugh aloud numerous times and try to share funny passages wit anyone within hearing range that would put up with me. Lamb is fun to read whether you know your Bible trivia or not, and is a hoot either way. It's satirical nature brings a more human element to the Gospel as it is told by Christ's best childhood pal, the outrageous Biff. Not only is it good for a laugh, it's the kinda book that also makes you think.

mildly amusing. a lot like robert lynn aspirin's "myth adventures" which i read when i was 11 years old...so kinda cheesy, but fun and irreverent.
