“Great creative humorous retelling of the New Testament without being disrespectful. Moore's best work.”

Actually well researched, and the author is very specific about what he took liberties with and what he tried to remain true to - he's right that there is very little written about Christ's early years, and his account is really funny as well as thought-provoking. It was not irreverent at all, although a tried and true bible-thumper might not like it. A book you might want to pick up and read to judge for yourself. I actually learned a bit about how things probably were culturally during the time period. Some fun word-play, something I always like.”

Christopher Moore does a great job in imagining what life was like for Jesus (Josh) but throws in humor that will keep you reading.”

He is brought back to life to write the missing chapters of Jesus' life, namely from the ages of 6-30. It is a hilariously-written, tongue-in-cheek novel that paints Jesus as a real person. The story is largely about their friendship, and Biff's unseen, supporting role as buddy, and essentially keeper of the Mesiah. ”

This is more than a brilliant premise. It is a well-researched, fully developed investigation into the "life of Christ." Everyone should keep an open mind and read this. And do unto others . . .”

and he happens to know everything.
In America, while Raziel indulges himself with TV soap operas and pizzas, Biff is under house arrest (at a Hyatt Hotel in St. Louis to be exact) until he finish writing the untold 30-years of the Christ's life on Earth. Although innocent of the existence/printing of the Holy Bible, Biff vividly recalls everything- from their childhood; their journey across the continent to find the three wise men who visited Joshua (Jesus translation in Hebrew) from his birth; to Joshua's struggle in becoming the predicted Messiah; until the inevitable crucifixion.
I enjoyed this book immensely. A reprieved from the catastrophe our country just went through. Although the author was sometimes crude in illustrating Biff's sexual escapades, the biblical background was nonetheless true.
His ability to grab a sacred subject and apply witty humor into it is a great example of Moore's brilliance. A wonderful read that will stay with me for a long time. I recommend this book to anyone in much need of humor indulgence, but those with religious background and upbringing should appreciate this a lot more than those who has none.
Keep the faith and read your Bible everyday!
