Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

by Christopher Moore

While the Bible may be the word of God, transcribed by divinely inspired men, it does not provide a full (or even partial) account of the life of Jesus Christ. Lucky for us that Christopher Moore presents a funny, lighthearted satire of the life of Christ--from his childhood days up to his crucifixion--in Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal. This is a great, funny, thought provoking book. If you are easily offended, you may want to pass and read one of Christopher Moore's other books, as they are all great! Everyone else will want to add this to their collection to read over and over and over again.
Funny...I thought the "H" in Jesus H. Christ stood for "haploid"...

One of Moore's best books, in my opinion, though I was a little disappointed in the ending (but obviously not enough to change my rating from 5 to 4 stars). Some laugh out loud stuff, definitely always at least chuckle-worthy.

I read this book aloud to my boyfriend over the course of several weeks. we both got absorbed in the story and enjoyed Moore's sense of humor. he takes a very creative approach at explaining Jesus' early influences (especially from Eastern religions)

Perhaps one of the funniest books I have ever read.
It sounds like something that would be offensive to Christians, but really as long as you understand that it's all fun and don't take it seriously it's a fun read.

Moore spent a very long time researching for this book, and seems to be very accurate in most of what he mentions from history. I would recommend this for anyone... who is not an extremely conservative Christian (it makes some jokes about Jesus that someone lacking in a sense of humor in that area would find offensive).
A Most Hilarious Review of Jesus' Hidden Years

Christopher Moore skirts the edge of blasphemy in a novel that presents a new gospel written by a proverbial screw-up. It is pure fiction but portrays what easily could have been. It makes Jesus, the child, one burdened with gifts he had yet to understand and the all too human Biff, his counterpoint in reality. The book is a hilarious page turner with frequent belly laughs from beginning to end.
