Pregnant and alone, Jana turns to her best friend, Sam. He helps her find a place, gives her a job, and safety but she wants more from him. He is super afraid of relationships, always ends them before they get serious. But with Jana it is different. She is a friend first and his feelings for her are beginning to get to be to much but he just can't ignore them.

Good read that delves into deep emotions.

This book was quite good. I was shocked that I found the depth of character that I did in it. Now don't start booing and hissing at me already. It's not that I don't like Harlequin, it's just that I couldn't imagine that the ass that was Sam Harrison could turn himself around and become the man that Jana needed and the baby deserved. I was shocked that the author took so long to pull the male character around and have the characters have some happily ever after. I was quite happy with the ending and how everything worked out. I do hope to find something else by Ms. Sandler and have a relaxing read again.

Horrid cover, but great pacing and interesting characters.

Jana McPartland showed up at her best friend Sam Harrison’s house. She was two months pregnant by her ex-boyfriend, with no money and no place to go.

Sam is a well known author and offers Jana a job and a place to live. During the next few months Jana helps Sam build his new shop and falls in love with him.

This was a sweet story, Sam and Jana had known each other while they were younger and in foster care, but Sam always thought of Jana as a kid sister, until she showed up at his front door. He didn’t want to fall for Jana because he didn’t want her to leave him, the way his mother had.

But eventually they realise they were meant for each other.

This was a sweet and rather unexpected romance. I don't think I've ever seen a hero fight quite so much as Sam did! He was quite determined not to fall in love! But he had his reasons. Jana was also an interesting heroine, trying so hard to make it on her own. Sam does finally teach her that it's okay to accept help once in a while. And she taught him that just because you love someone, they won't always reject you. Thank God for that. Even if it did take a while to get through to the both of them. That, and a baby!
