1343 a coastal english town is savagely decimated and a young boy takes an oath to avenge and to recover the town's holy relic. a tale of his rise in the armies of Edward III, where the great yew melded England's bowman into the bane of medieval Europe. a wonderful read for those who love some history with their stories. The beginning of The 100 Years War.

After finishing Cornwell's Arthur series, I was looking forward to another good story. Instead, it was tedious (anymore evisceration of horses and I would have to scream). He seems to have a problem with his female characters. Jeanette was flat out unlikeable and Elinor a cypher. What did she see in Thomas anyway? I won't be finishing this series.
