I thought Smack was a really good book. I felt that the ideas and concepts that Melvin Burgess conveys in this book are really insightful and relevant. Burgess uses a writing technique that i particularly like. He separates chapters by switching to a different main character, giving the reader more than one point-of-view. This was a book that I was required to read for an english class. It started off slow and really confusing. In the book it tells about teens who drop out of high school, and become drug addicts. They go through hard times but then realize what they are doing is harming them and others. All in all the book was not great, relatively boring.
