Lemony Snickett is one of the mos interesting author-characters of this age. The persona of the mysterious author is almost larger than the characters of these wonderful stories.

I quite enjoyed this. Reminded me quite strongly of Edward Gorey Gashlycrumb Tinies. I keep expecting that one of the children will be eaten by a bear. (B is for Basil, assaulted by bears, if you'll recall).

I did not like this series at all. It seems like it would be best for about a 2nd to 3rd grader. I was expecting something for a YA audience, but got this glorified children's book.

What a genius little book... great tone and the picture is strongly reminescent of Edward Gorey. Although a children's book, I enjoyed it's charm and peculiarity. I was so intrigued with the first book, I went out and bought through Book 5. Unfortunately, it is the same story repeated over and over again. Book 1 is worth a read, skip the rest of the series though. Unbearably repetitive.

Love the whole series! So whimsically macabre. Think Edvard Gorey meets Harry Potter.

The movie is better than the books. And I've never said that about any book.
