“I liked the concept, and I didn't like the execution.”see full review » see other reviews »
“This book wasn't as good as I expected it to be. It still caught my attention, but it was hard to focus because sometimes Jem(main character), would talk in her head and with slang British accents, which was sometimes difficult to understand. I still enjoyed this book, even though it might not be my favorite.”Mikala B. wrote this review 13 days ago. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“This book is about a 15 year old girl named Jem who lives in London. She has a special talent... she can see the date you are going to die in your eyes. Her mother was a drug addict and died when she was young so now she is shipped from house to house and school to school. Because of her gift she doesn't like to get close to people because they just leave... Until she befriends a tall lanky black boy named Spider. One day they were roaming around London when Jem realized that all the people around her had the same date in their eyes and she realized something bad was going to happen. When she and spider are caught running away from the explosion they are suspected to be connected to the terrorist attack so they must run. It is a great book that is captivating!! I would use this book in an upper level class to introduce the genre Speculative Fiction.”Emily Parsons wrote this review Tuesday, October 22, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “I loved the concept of Numbers. But the whole thing seemed like it could have been much shorter.
The book was really touching though. Recommended. 4.5 out of 5 stars.”
“Jem lives in foster care in and around London. Her mother died of an overdose and since then she realizes she sees or senses the numbers in people's eyes. The dates of the deaths. Because of this she stays away from people, until she meets a boy named Spider. The events they witness is edge-of-the-seat kind of stuff and the ending is cliff hanger. But I really liked it and can't wait to read the next one. The two main characters have stayed in my mind after reading it. I love when authors can make their characters so real.”Lynda wrote this review Sunday, June 30, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“The book was OK. Does have some inappropriate words and adult content- so don't recommend for MS students. I also am not crazy about the British setting/dialect was hard to get into. The premise basically she could see when others death dates were and avoided letting anyone "in" until she met "Spider" and they grew close. Predictably- the ending is sad but holds some promise with a twist at the very end. ”Amy C wrote this review Friday, June 28, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“The beginning was slow when it was all about how the main character, Jem was in a class for like deliquents. My interested started to slowly rise as she predicted the bombing and how she starts falling in love with Spider. I saw the ending coming, but it still surprised me how it actually happened. ”Gu wrote this review Sunday, June 9, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“I give this book a death star. I was so disappointed with this book, the cover looks amazing and the story had great potential, but it just fell very flat [on it's face]. I know I am sounding rude but not all books are for everyone and I had high hopes for this novel. ”Corielee2 wrote this review Saturday, April 13, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful?
