This is a fun, fast read. I don't garden and I was laughing and enjoying myself.

Humorous, but not funny. Well written, but not gripping. Interesting, but not fascinating.
Not a great book, but a good book.

Hobbies are expensive - book started out great, but dragged a bit and got bogged down in details.

I'm laughing everytime I turn a page. I would recommend this book to anyone who gardens or has thought about gardening. Bill Alexander is an amazingly honest and a hillarious writer.

Made me laugh and read passages out loud. Any gardener, or would-be gardener, will relate to his obsession with growing the "perfect ___." We have since named our groundhog SuperChuck as well.

I enjoyed this book. The premise...an amatuer gardener trying to grow his own produce...strikes a chord with me, though I am nowhere near his garden scale or obsession. It is funny to see struggles I have had played out in another's garden. He is easy to identify with and his humorous writing draws the reader into companionship. His chapters are well organized and because of that he is able to jump chronologically and yet not lose his reader. A good read!

FOr anyone that has ever tried to manage a home garden, this book speaks volumes of truth! Well worth the time to read...the added plus is you feel as if you have a compadre in Alexander!
