I'm not sure where it was, that I heard about this book. I've read Lewis' "Moneyball", which was the book that upset Major League Baseball, almost as much as "Ball Four", by Jim Bouton(which I read years ago, when it first came out). Both books are excellent, and I heartily recommend them. The...

Honest and memorably funny book that bravely shows what parenthood can be like - the agony and the ecstasy of it. You don't need to have been a parent to enjoy it, I haven't, and I loved it. Author Michael Lewis talks about his wife Tabitha, and children Quinn, Dixie and Walker. Memorable quotes -- "If you want to feel the way you're meant to feel about the new baby, you need to do the grunt work. It's only in caring for a thing that you become attached to it."
And-- " The simple act of taking care of a living creature, even when you don't want to, maybe especially when you don't want to, is transformative.. All the little things that you must do for a helpless creature to keep it alive cause you to love it... It's because you want to hurl it off the balcony and don't that you come to love it."

The premise of this book struck me, as I am a grandfather of two precious kids. I'm going to pass it along to my son, not only because he recommended "Moneyball" to me, but because he may get something useful in regards to being a Dad. This book is funny, and also poignant. It's a quick read(186 pages), and gives the author's take on the revelations of Fatherhood. I enjoyed it immensely, and highly recommend it, especially for young fathers, and fathers-to-be.

Perfect! Finally, some dad has the guts to say what I'm thinking.

I admit it; I'm a huge Michael Lewis fan. Home Game does for Dads what Liar's Poker did for burnt-out Investment brokers - that is - explain what happened and probably why.

Very, very funny. Especially the first half. It slips into being a little precious and preachy at times. His description of being a dad for the first time is spot on and hilarious.

I'm a big fan of Michael Lewis. I've loved everything I've read of his, including this collection of funny essays on fatherhood.
