The Ya Ya books are great reads. The characters are very well-developed and interesting.

This was the third book in the Ya-Ya trilogy, and it was also mainly told by the Walker children. They talked more about happier and funnier memories in this book than in the previous book. It was mainly focused on how the family was Catholic, but it was not always easy to be a good Catholic, and this book showed how even the parents had difficulties with their beliefs and who they believed protected them in times of hardship.
Halfway through the book, the time period shifts to the early 90's, when it had previously been set in the 60's. The now grown up Walker children tell about how their close friend's child was stolen, but found, and how scary something like that can be. Everyone realizes how important their families are to them, and everyone struggles to figure out what supernatural beings they believe in to take care of them. They book ends with a Christmas party that includes the four Ya-Yas, their husbands, their children, and their children's families. Everyone comes together at they end and they all realize that when you have so many people who love you, you will always be safe.

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the Ya Ya Sisterhood.

Luckily I didn't buy this book. I was on the waiting list at the library and couldn't wait to read it once it was my turn. I have had the book for over a week now and have no desire to finish it.

Although it's written in an easy to read style, I was EXTREMELY disappointed by lack of originality. Many of the ya yas adventures are recapped and told from a different viewpoint. Some new ones are added, but some of the narrative is so lengthy, by the time you get to the point you don't really care what it is anyway.

The book reads like a collection of short stories, with each story being told by someone else. In that sense, if you just want a quick ya ya fix, this is the book for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for an interesting story with a good plot and interesting characters, read the first ya ya book and don't bother with this recap.
