I also love historical novels - ones where the author takes true events and people and weaves a story around them. Margaret George is one of my favorite historical novelists.

I have had to put this back on the shelf for another time....maybe.

    It is very slow.

I read this a long time ago, so until I reread it, I'll just write a review based on what I remember.

Like all of Margaret George's novels, this one is a monster. Your hands and arms will probably get tired from holding it. However, the story is good enough and George is a good enough writer that you'll probably not notice that your muscles are weary.

This is probably one of the better novels about Cleopatra that I've read. The length makes it hard to be an airplane book or light reading, which may influence other people's desire to read it.

A beautifully written novel told from the Cleopatra's view. Though it is quite a thick book, the content was not so dense that the length of it put the reader off completely. Recommended for anyone who loves historical fiction and most definitely for those who admire Cleopatra.

Collecting dust...I just know how it ends so I haven't moved it off the shelf.

Fascinating. I never knew the full story about Cleopatra and Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony. Highly recommended, I flew threw it!
