Writing book reviews online about books that remind us how disconnected from nature we are, and what that disconnect has done to our mental and spiritual and physical health. Excuse me while I go put on my hiking boots and get the hell out of here...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Loved this book. It raises a much needed awareness about a lack of nature in children's lives today and what effects it is having on our society.”

An affirmation for camping, hiking, climbing trees, building treehouses, and having that favorite place outside we remember from growing up.”

Made me realize that children today don't have the experience outdoors that I grew up with. This is very sad to me. The book also points to the possibility that children have learning disabilities etc because they are out of touch with nature. Book also says there is a great need for nature programs in the schools. Nature is as important at music and sports. This book got good reviews from Wash Post, Christian Sci. Monitor etc. If you have children, do read this book.”

Very credible, supporting arguments/evidence was well sourced and backed up. Louv discusses a lot of problems related to our lost connection with nature. I see from my own experience with lots of nature as a kid how it helped my ADD (I'm not diagnosed but I think I have it to a certain extent), physical, mental and emotional health, imagination/creativity, and so much more.
I will strive to create similar memorable experiences with nature with my own kids, though it will be much more difficult for me as a parent than for my parents.”
“AMAZING! Why our kiddos need to be submerged in nature more than they are. Gives insight into what is happening to children who don't spend more time outdoors and how we can get them out there.”
